Prof Geoff Hodgson named among world’s top scientists in economics and finance

IMEG member and Emeritus Professor Geoffrey M Hodgson has been named as one of the world’s leading scientists by Research.com. In their just-released 2026 edition of globally leading scientists in economics and finance, Geoff is ranked 161st globally and 20th in the UK.

According to Research.com, the ranking “is primarily based on bibliometric data sourced from OpenAlex and CrossRef, alongside multiple other reputable data providers. […] A scientist’s position in the ranking is determined by their D-index (Discipline H-index), a refined metric that measures citation impact exclusively within the examined discipline. This ensures that only papers and citations relevant to Economics and Finance are considered, providing a discipline-specific evaluation of scholarly influence.”
